Higher Education Quality and Capacity Improvement Project (Development and Innovation Grants)

Higher Education Quality and Capacity Improvement Project

The DIG Scheme is the first ever open, competitive, academic grant scheme offered in the country. It is one of the four components of a US$ 23 million project, Higher Education Quality and Capacity Improvement Project (HEQCIP), co-funded (grant and credit project) by World Bank and government which initiated in December 2010. The DIG scheme – Component Two of HEQCIP – aims to (1) strengthen the capacity of participating higher education institutions (HEIs) and provide the enabling conditions for improving quality in research, teaching, and management; and (2) introduce an efficient and sustainable mechanism which emphasizes innovation and accountability for the allocation of public funds for research in HEIs.
